Replacing trust with a new level of due diligence
But here’s the kicker: with no regulation, there are very few assurances that properties in your programme are meeting safety and security protocols as demonstrated in the video above.
Now more than ever, the pressure is on when it comes to duty of care, and traveller welfare in the accommodation RFP process.
The Accommodation Conformity Focus Group
The TRA has created a working group, initiated at TOMS24, to enable organisations to collaborate and establish a minimum safety and security standard for accommodation providers. This initiative aims to create universal requirements adopted across the board.
Innovative Technology
Leveraging cutting-edge technology, the focus group are creating a unified set of criteria, for property operators to demonstrate through an evidence-based system. It will help organisations verify suitable properties for RFPs, and at the same time provide accommodation providers with a recognised guideline to ensure they meet their duty of care and safety responsibilities.
Upcoming Global Standards
Both ISO31030:2021 Travel Risk Management for Organisations and the newly released ISO31031:2024 Risk Management for Youth Travel put the spotlight on travel service providers—transport, accommodation, agents, and technologies—to safeguard their travellers. The Accommodation Conformity Focus Group supports these efforts, helping providers meet current and future standards with confidence.
